Thanks for this Colin, it's very useful to see the book dissected this way. It seems to me this chapter exhibits much of the confusion I've seen in the debates and articles regarding transgenderism and trans rights I've been following for the last few years. I'd expect the confusions to continue throughout the book as a result. Fundamentally it seems to me the "sex is spectrum" advocates are divorcing sex characteristics from what sex (in its biological meaning) actually is, namely reproduction. I'd expect the book to at least downplay the fact, if not ignore it outright, that there are only 2 roles in sexual reproduction in the reasoning used. It'll be interesting to see if the expectation is correct.
It seems like all the confusion would have been avoided had the book been titled, "The Spectrum of GENDER" and throughout replaced "Sex" with "Gender". Thanks for the great substack Colin!
Well done. You're doing important work. The relentless pursuit of truth. Thank you for making a difference.
Much appreciated, thank you!
