I never say this because it's already a overused statement by some folks in these subjects, but those Olson-Kennedys are evil. Awful people. No sane medical professional would speak like that, full of subjective considerations and sort of silencing any dissent by downplaying the counterpart in a single sentence.

Therefore, it's intentional, she's lying, and that's disgusting.

The whole concept of gender identity is complete nonsense. By the way, it’s “an” overused statement, not “a” overused statement. 👍

I certainly believe that there are many who are genuinely transgender, but they account for a very small percentage. There are so many now for whom the trans issues have become their hobby; those who simply must have a cross to bear or a cause to fight for.

Oh bloody hell, just watched the video. What a whiney, fad-following, attention seeking tit. She wants everyone to warp their own language into bollocks for her own feelings but screw the feelings of everyone else. Hateful woman.

Likewise! I can't wait for this madness to be over and those responsible pay dearly.

I don't actually believe they are "evil". I suspect they have lost their souls (and minds) in gender ideology as a coping mechanism for their own distress. Many people immersed in the gender racket are there because they themselves have gender/sexuality issues - I read them* as a lesbian couple who cannot accept themselves due to internalised homophobia and have to pretend they are hetero. So I don't think they are explicitly (consciously) lying but are engaging what is labelled as "motivated reasoning". This appears very common in the "industry". *Strictly my own perception.

All doctors who harm children must be named, shamed, and punished. Plume health mails surgery support letters and drugs across state lines after a brief telehealth consultation. Other doctors gloat about child castrstion on social media.

Here are the worst offenders: https://yuribezmenov.substack.com/p/how-to-do-no-harm-part-2

Prosecute these creatures for child abuse and medical malpractice until there are at least 5,000 of these "professionals" in prison. After all, 5,000 is such a small number of people.

Thanks, Pamela. I hope that your voice is heard in the social work and psychology communities. I have a strong sense that you/we are engaged in a battle of truth and common sense over agains cynical and manipulative ideology. As a retired pediatrician, I cannot believe that so much of society has been willing to give up confused children to a powerful interest movement which is willfully blind to its crimes.

Thank you Pamela. As a retired licensed clinical social worker (since 2014) I find it absolutely shocking and terrifying that our profession, along with all the other "helping professions" seems to have been completely taken over by this utterly irrational madness posing as "science." I look forward to reading your blog posts.

This is a good article with which I agree, but there are spelling errors, “helth” instead of “health.” “It’s,” which should be “its” in the context used. Errors like this can be fodder for those who might want to discredit the article.

Yes - I thought the same thing. Needs editing. Otherwise strong article.

What is even more disingenuous than characterizing these child protection laws as "anti-trans" is characterizing them as anti LGBTQ, as if all people under this broad umbrella acronym are somehow harmed by them. That is nonsense. Blindly affirming gender dysphoria and medically transitioning a young healthy body is the real harm.

Thank you for this, Pamela. Good work. I would say to those who point to "only" 5,000 kids being on puberty blockers that it's not a great enough amount to have created all this brouhaha over in the first place.

My newsletter is about "untangling and rewriting the fictions that drive the world." In the end, we're talking about a fictionalized narrative entitled, "The Terrible Perils of At-Risk Teens in the Midwest" versus "The Cautionary Tale of a Children's Book Author Who Dared to Stand Up for Biology and Women." In other words, it's not the numbers — even though you're absolutely right, even one wrong diagnosis and prescription is one too many, as with capital punishment and the government murdering a single innocent person being enough to abolish it — it's about how the narrative has blazed out of control and caused so much unnecessary social destruction and physical harm to individuals with mental health issues.

We know it will die down and go away eventually, but the damage... I mean, the stories on Reddit r/detrans are so heartbreaking I've stopped following the subreddit.

Checked out some of your essays James and wondering what the meaning and derivations are of terms like "douchey-crap" and "bitch-assed" which you use a lot? Do you know?

James Killough's avatar

Do I use them a lot? I'm deducing that the essay you're referring to is one that breaks down Dave Chappelle's "comedy." In the case of "bitch-assed" I believe I quote him and then might use it again as stylistic repetition to reinforce that I'm mimicking him to turn his metaphors on his own narratives of victimhood. The alternative Chappelle uses is "punk-assed"; I would never use either in conversation or writing about someone. Again without looking through the piece, I imagine that "douchey-crap" is likely a one-off compound neologism of the kind I would use to describe something as jerk-like bullshit. I've created a number of neologisms that I use frequently — i.e., "gender-fender-bender" — and those that I use creatively. I'm primarily a creative writer; I don't pretend to be an academic and try to keep references to academics and scientists to a minimum so as not to bestow false legitimacy on what is purely opinion. I do my best to make that clear, but sometimes I just have to rely on the reader's assumptions, and both the name of the newsletter/website and the category under which the piece is filed, e.g., "Quibblers." That intentionally tries to diminish any self-importance that the reader might assign to my essays. I'm not interested in making myself right, just giving people a different point of view and something to think about.

Here is an incomplete list of my neologisms that I keep meaning to bring to this site:

Thanks for reading.

could the real mental health issue sufferers be these supposed doctors, social workers, and promoters engaging in this sordid fad?

James Killough's avatar

Good point. My take on it is not so much mental illness as willful ignorance combined with a type of mild corruption that English-speaking countries in the Anglosphere — the most infected by this thanks to America's lead — call "conflict of interest."

Colin and others have pointed to the flawed 90s "Dutch study" that has given a wobbly scientific seal of approval to a doctrine that was kicked off by mistranslation and cultural misapplication of French Postmodernist thought and how the French in general use these philosophical debates — at the dinner table, in cafés and on intellectual talk shows — by the humorless, Puritanical-evangelical Anglo spirit, which turned it into a crusading religion much like the Temperance Movement. I see us as being in a New Prohibition, as much as an inverted form of McCarthyism.

In the piece pinned to the top of my Substack, Quibblers & Scribblers, I give an impressionistic explanation of the true intention of the sentence that kicked off this mess as an Ameropean who speaks French fluently. It's part of why the French themselves are appalled by 'Le Wokeisme.' Even if you yourself speak French, or get the European gist of things, you might still see some merit in my interpretation.

The corruption aspect is the how much money they're making by certifying this as real. And LGBT activist groups whose causes have been declining since we got partial equal rights in 2015 suddenly find themselves with another fire to put out that they have fanned and stoked themselves, more flush than ever with outrage dollars — this manufactured outrage isn't as icky and dark as AIDS was.

Ten years ago, when GLAAD/HRC's influence was waning, but they were still handing out gold stars for media representation as well as working to commercialize gay to the max, I dubbed GLAAD as "the Swish Inquisition" — they're insufferably smug, sanctimonious, judgmental but plain wrong, the worst kind of person. Now I call them "The Gay and Lesbian Defamation League." They're so sucked into this circle jerk in an echo chamber that they believe it's real and righteous; that is my view of why you might see it as mental illness — it's bog-standard cognitive distortion, a sort of sane person's psychosis.

However, sainthood and martyrdom never really suited us in the first place; as an older gay man, the current state of things is perversely more comfortable, in the sense it's more like what I grew up with.

As pediatric psychiatrist, Miriam Grossman, stated before congress: Finland change the policies for treating children with cross-sex ideation in 2020 and do not immediately affirm. There has been no tsunami of Finnish children taking their own lives.

Furthermore, from another angle, members of racial minorities who have religious beliefs along the lines of 'we are created in the image of God' are getting fired for their beliefs. The clip here is concerning AMETEK Rotron manufacturer in Woodstock, NY, where an African American man was immediately fired for questioning a man in make-up using the women's toilet.

It’s high time for people to realize that gender affirming care is just an euphemism for sex denying abuse.

Every war produces collateral damage -- innocents are killed. Same here. Watched Independent Lens last night, this kid -- probably a 'real' trannie and you'd swear xe was a girl. In a calm and sane world I'd not have an issue with 'her' using the girls washroom in elementary school. But we can't give ground to The Enemy, can we? No, perhaps we can't.

Too bad, on all fronts, it wasn't possible to return to centering normalcy -- build a world designed around the needs of regular, functioning people. Yes, we have our freaks and perverts and nut cases and The Marginalized and Victims of all sorts -- and we love every one of them, but just as the world is dextrocentric (too bad for lefties), so it should be sane-centric (too bad for folks who think they are Napoleon or who think that men can get pregnant -- you have our deepest sympathies.)
