My then 10 yo had an emergency appendectomy last Nov (2021). Fortunately, some outdoor emergency care training I had while an outdoor guide in undergrad allowed us to catch it early so we were in and out of the pediatric ER in a wonderfully short 10.5 hours (hint, if pain doesn’t move from the lower right quadrant for 18 straight hours, especially if soften can’t stop puking, go straight to the ER).
Anyway, while the actual surgeon and nurses at this top ranked NC teaching hospital were great, the med students and residents were a really bad joke. They were all freaked out of Covid. They were all appalled my daughter attended a private Christian school that had been in person and mask free except during mandates since mid August 2020, despite this hospital’s and the associated University’s Christian founding. Mostly they were completely spooked and highly offended my 10 year old daughter was not worried about Covid and honestly answered their questions about that.
After one “resident” told her that if her Covid test came back positive she might not get the operation, which wasn’t even true (and if it had been, that hospital would have been crawling with more attorneys than they could imagine, plus one of the ED directors is a personal friend), she finally looked at this particular “resident” and said “I’m on an IV antibiotic drip because the doctor said my ultrasound results showed my appendix may have already burst. No, I am not scared of Covid. I’m 10. I have no reason to be scared of Covid. I’m scared my appendix burst and if it doesn’t come out I might die.”
On a brighter note, she looked at me when we left the hospital and said “Mom, I can’t be a vet. I need to be a doctor when I grow up because if that’s the future of medicine we’re all gonna die.” 😂🤣😂
Medicine is just one of the many institutions corrupted by this ideology, but it’s the most critical to address lest we are willing to tolerate thousands more children going on blockers/hormones or being mutilated by surgeries.
Here’s an example of how eager medicine is to put kids on this pathway. Four years ago my daughter came out as NB and we have never affirmed. Two years ago I had my teenage son at an ear/nose/throat consult. The physician took a family history & my son mentioned his younger sis has depression (he didnt mention gender). ENT got almost gleeful and said “Your daughter has depression? That means she may have gender issues! Do you want a referral to our clinic?” Referring a kid she’s never seen to a clinic for a condition she has no expertise on. If I hadn’t already been well versed in the horrors of “affirming care,” I might have taken that referral and we all know what would have happened from there. How many well intentioned but uninformed parents have been put down a path of no return because medicine can’t stop catering to the Be Kind crowd?
The prescription drug cocktails are never discussed. A quick perusal of the drug, Finasteride (Propecia, Prosca from Merck) reveals the deep, deep delusion of the drugs profits corporations. Men who've gone on it have a foundation, the Post Finasteride Syndrome Foundation, documenting the mental health disabilities, the sexual dysfunction and urine blockage problems this drug has caused in men so far. It's given to women, despite this foundation's lawsuit against the FDA, "to prevent male pattern baldness" when they've been given testosterone for "gender dysphoria."
These girls don't want to be women, but they don't want to face losing their hair, which men do face as a male badge. (and proudly, I can say of my male relatives)
Dementia, possible blindness, brain fog, &etc, details never explained to these girls, are ahead if you're taking the F and the T. (hello, malpractice law firms) There are 91 suicides attributed in men to this drug, but Rachel Levine goes rogue, talking about "affirmative care," not recognizing his obvious conflict of interest on the subject. Nice head of hair, anyone noticed? Or is it a weave?

This whole butchery of young bodies is directly the medical world’s fault. If they weren’t espousing nonsense like ‘assigned female at birth’ and immediately referring kids to gender clinics, then our confused youths wouldn’t be looking at their sceptical parents like they were child-hating monsters. At the moment they just say, ‘Er, I think the doctors might know more than you, Mum.’
I recently retired as a pediatric specialist and a former member of AAP. I watched this organization become increasingly woke over the last 40 years. Its leadership reflects the "permanent staff" in Washington. They have been pro-abortion and pro-Democrat for a long time. The same thing has happened to the AMA and most specialty societies. They rarely ask their membership for input on policy issues and they have played a big part in the medicalization of political issues. This piece in Reality's Last Stand is so well documented and considered. This is a complex issue but common sense and millennia of human history stand against the radicals. Academic medicine has been almost entirely taken over by the Progressives.
Let's not play on their side of the field. There is no such thing as "Cisgender". There is normal sexuality and everything else. Of course we would observe with the premise that a child is developing normally until evidence is offered to the contrary. If a child shows sign or a paraphilia we would offer a focused treatment, but only after a period of containment and support. We have allowed these deranged antisocial actors to attempt to eliminate perversions via intense psychological warfare.. We cannot comply if we wish to save civilization.
It's interesting to me that in the thicket of trans, gays and lesbians become invisible.
How does trans ideology/medicine distinguish between children who grow up to be gay men and lesbian women, fully content in their biological bodies.....from those children who are destined to be trans?
Wow! More than I bargained for when I sat down to read your post. So thoughtful. One thing I still haven’t read/seen……..surgically transitioning is a “mostly” permanent process. So much for fluidity. Yes, I know there have been some that detransitioned and reverted (as much as surgically possible) back to their natural, God given gender. But that is not really what the medical and pharmaceutical industries are selling right now. Let me go out on a limb here……….are “they” trying to get rid of homosexuality? After all, if a man is attracted to another man he can transition to a woman and POOF! His homosexuality is gone. The psychological intervention in these questions have never surfaced.
I'd ask, "How is that affirming of one's inner reality working out? Have all those who self-id as gender fluid or trans become gloriously happy since going on this path, on social transition and medicalization?" The next few years will be interesting.
One more interesting aspect of all this. Pediatric endocrinologists have been second class citizens in many academic pediatric departments for decades. They have not traditionally brought a lot of dollars into the department unlike the Emergency Department, Critical Care Medicine and Cardiology. Of all sudden, they are on the front line of importance and they are "playing their hand" aggressively without nuance or hesitation. It is understandable, even if entirely wrong medically and morally.

The "social sciences" have almost completely ditched the "science " and are now infecting the medical and other "hard" sciences.
I have great trust in the scientific method - but my trust is quickly eroding in many of those professing to be practitioners of this method.
